This weekend, Gurrane Boat Club made the trip to South Kerry for the Kerry Coastal Rowing Time Trial hosted by Sive Rowing Club in Cahersiveen — and what a day it turned out to be for our crews.
We’re thrilled to share that our Senior Mixed Crew took first place in their category, delivering a powerful and focused performance from start to finish. Rowing in our second boat — named 'Denny' in memory of cox Mike Scannell’s father, affectionately known locally as 'Denny Bawn' — the win made the moment all the more meaningful.
The winning crew was made up of Ailish Murphy, Kevin Poff, James Mangan, Katie O’Sullivan, with Mike Scannell coxing. Their result is a testament to the work being done on and off the water, and a proud milestone for the team.
Strong Results Across the Club
It was a great day all round for Gurrane, with several crews finishing on the podium:
- U16 Boys – 2nd Place
- Senior Ladies – 2nd Place
- Senior Men – 2nd Place
- Senior Mixed – 1st Place
Each crew showed serious determination and teamwork in challenging conditions, and we couldn’t be prouder of their performances.
A Word of Thanks
A big thank you to Sive Rowing Club for hosting such a well-run and welcoming event and to all our supporters, families, and volunteers who continue to back our club every step of the way.
The momentum is building — and we’re only getting started.
